  23. I am afraid your noble concept is doomed to failure.  The very advantages of
  24. your proposal — that Guerilla Programming will make life easier for everyone,
  25. while having the authors go unrewarded — are its greatest weaknesses.  They
  26. assure that while participation in the scheme is to the collective good, it is
  27. to the detriment of the individual participant.  That person benefits most
  28. from your scheme, who contributes least — while those who contribute the most
  29. come out at a clear financial loss (for time IS money).

  31. Any plan based on the assumtion that people will nobly sacrifice their own
  32. good for the benefit of the collective is a losing proposition — ask any
  33. Romanian.  That is why copyrights, patents, and the other legal hassles
  34. surrounding intellectual property exist — because without them, nothing would
  35. get done.

  37. Therefore, although I would be delighted to benefit from the fruits of your
  38. proposed plan, I am afraid they will succumb to the cold frost of individual
  39. self-interest.
